Lake Bonney Yacht Club welcomes all interested persons aged 7 – Adult to come along to our club and experience the wonderful sport of sailing. Our aim is to progress you from a basic introduction to sail boats to:
- Be safe around boats, on and off water
- Help with rigging and unrigging a Pacer training boat
- Launch a Pacer class training boat
- Sail with the tiller extension
- Tacking with correct technique (push turn)
- Gybe with correct technique (pull turn)
- Sail upwind and downwind
Our ultimate aim is to give you the
- Ability to complete a triangular course in the wind range 5-10knots
- Basic understanding of give way rules
- Respectful and responsible attitude towards equipment, volunteers and fellow sailors
- Ability to right a Pacer independently
- Understanding of starting principles
What to Bring?
No prior sailing experience is required.
Sailors must be confident in and around the water.
A positive attitude and the ability to follow instructions are essential.
Boats and life jackets are provided. However, having your own life jacket is always preferred.
Wear appropriate (and warm if the day is cool) clothing for getting wet, along with a hat and sunscreen.

10:00am – 11:30am each Saturday morning starting November 9th
